#4: First Day of Class (June 17)
Today was my first day of classes, which started at 9:30 with Elementary Japanese. My roommates and I walked there together and gave ourselves plenty of time to get lost and still get there on time, which was good because we needed it: all the buildings look very similar and modular. We learned how to say lots of conversational phrases, including introductory ones like, "How are you? My name's Sam. I'm from the University of Kentucky," which would sound like, "Hajimemashite? Watashi wa Sam desu. Kantakee Daigaku kara kimashita."
After a udon noodles lunch at the cafeteria was automotive technology class. The focus today was Automobiles in an Aging Society, and highlighted Nagoya research in tests and aids for seniors blowing stop signs and stepping on wrong pedals and crashing through 7-Eleven windows because they're losing their sight, brain cells, memory, and driving skills.
Made several flashcards tonight for what I learned in Japanese class today. Will be a lot more coming, and I'm looking forward to learning more and more Japanese each day.
